Vij5 is a Dutch design brand, founded by Arjan van Raadshooven and Anieke Branderhorst, curating a collection of minimalist interior decoration, in collaboration with young designers.
Among the new products presented at Maison & Objet 2016, here are my favorite, all connected by the mint green colour. Yes, I am giving up to the pastel colours.
Pigments & Porcelain
Alissa + Nienke
A research on colour through liquid porcelain, to obtain a series of hand-made and unique objects.
An half coloured mirror to represent abstractly the lunar phases: you can mount it on the wall and rotate it, to represent the mood of the moment, rising or waning.
Cushions decorated in patterns that recall the Fibonacci sequence, a mathematical relationship that is very common in nature. The designer of the project, which also includes cotton stoles, works continuously with fair trade organisations in India, which take care of everything: the organic cotton weaving, dyeing using eco-friendly techniques and manual embroidery, using traditional techniques.
Caroline Olsson + Ida Noemi
A modular frame in ash wood, held together by copper corner profiles, which have at the same time form and function.
Finally, the winner of the Red Dot Design Award: a wall mounted cupboard without handle. Pulling the lever, the door opens using the force of gravity, with a slow and elegant movement, a pleasure for the eyes.
