Craftelling: Dublin edition

Qualche tempo fa mi chiama Gaia Segattini, era finita da poco la meravigliosa 2 giorni di Creativi in rete qui a Torino. E niente, tra una vocina e una risata mi propone di partire con lei.

Quanto tempo ci ho messo a rispondere di sì? Tipo mezzo secondo, ovvio.

Sono seguite altre mille telefonate e duemila messaggi su whatsapp per immaginarci questo viaggio. Quasi non ci credevamo di esserci riuscite. E invece finalmente è ora di partire: giovedì sera arriveremo a Dublino, per passare un weekend alla scoperta del migliore design irlandese e per visitare The Knitting & Stitching Show.

Some time ago Gaia Segattini called me, just after the end of the amazing 2 days of Creativi in rete here in Turin. And between a laugh and another, she asked me to go with her.

How long did it take me to say yes? About half a second, of course.

A thousand calls and two thousands whatsapp messages followed, to imagine this trip. We almost did not believe it worked out. But finally it’s time to leave: Thursday evening we will arrive in Dublin, to spend a weekend discovering the best Irish design and visit The Knitting & Stitching Show.

Tutto questo grazie alle iniziative che appartengono al programma dell’Irish Design 2015, che si presenta così:

L’Irish Design 2015 si compone di un programma molto articolato, promosso dal Design & Crafts Council of Ireland: mostre, corsi, tour turistici negli studi e botteghe, fiere, convegni e tavole rotonde, in Irlanda e in Europa.

Per esempio la mostra Liminal. Irish design at the threshold è stata portata prima a Milano durante il fuorisalone, poi alla Dutch Design Week di Eindhoven, per presentare all’interno dei migliori eventi europei di settore il meglio del più moderno design irlandese e per favorire la collaborazione tra i designer.

Intanto Gaia ha scritto un post bellissimo e serissimo, che devi assolutamente leggere: Craftelling: il design, l’artigianato e la loro storia d’amore (interessato), perché ne sa davvero tanto su questo tema e la sua è una delle analisi più lucide degli ultimi tempi. Grazie!

The Irish Design 2015 is composed of a very structured programme, supported by the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland: exhibitions, studio visits and workshops, exhibitions and conferences, in Ireland and across Europe.

For example, the Liminal. Irish design at the threshold exhibition has been displayed firstly in Milan during Fuorisalone, then at the Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven, two of the most important European events, in order to foster collaboration among designers.
